Your unique perspective and experience are valuable to our class discussions. My Commitment to You
I am committed to supporting you to bring your best self, your true and genuine self into our classroom. I am here to support your learning and support your engagement with the curriculum and to connect your own life experiences to the field of psychology. I am here to answer questions, to be available to you and to work together to support you learning and growth.

My Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy centers around fostering a student-centered learning environment where critical thinking, curiosity, and self-reflection are encouraged, allowing students to actively engage with psychological concepts and apply them to their lives, promoting a deeper understanding of one’s worldview and identity development. Students will engage with one another through discussions, case studies, group work, and real-world examples to promote application of psychological concepts to our world.

Our Pact
What you can expect from me:
- That I will support you and facilitate your learning to help you in your academic success.
- That I will be available to answer questions, provide prompts to help you think deeper about the questions we explore, and provide additional learning opportunities if you. want to pursue this subject further.
- That I will treat each of you fairly and with respect and will foster a classroom environment where it is okay to ask questions, take risks and make mistakes.
- That I will give you multiple opportunities to understand and learn the core concepts while exploring your own worldview.
What I will expect from you:
- That you believe in yourself to be successful in this course.
- That you will ask questions. The expectation is that you will learn something new and grow in ways you did not expect.
- That you will make mistakes. No one gets everything right the first time, and one of the best ways to learn is to try and learn from your mistakes.
- That you will treat everyone in the class with respect and kindness.

Equity Statement
The diversity that each of you brings to this class is a resource, a strength, and a great benefit, and it is immensely important to me that you all feel welcome and connected in this course. My goal is to cultivate a learning environment that supports a diversity of thoughts, perspectives, and experiences, and honors your identities and the intersection between them (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, social class, religion, ability).
To help accomplish this:
- If you have a name and/or set of pronouns that differ from those that appear in my class roster please let me know.
- If something was said in class that made you feel uncomfortable, please talk to me.
- Emotional safety is essential for a sense of belonging, for learning, and for taking healthy risks–let’s work together to cultivate it.
